10 Books to Embody Your Future Self Now & Leap With Ease

10 Books to Embody Your Future Self Now & Leap With Ease

Sep 26, 2023

There's many (many!) books that have helped me rewire my subconscious and discover and embody my future Self now.

But if you'd ask me for my MUST-READ list to consciously create a joyful and fulfilling life, which a client did recently, these are them.

Most of these books offer powerful new views on topics as money, health, trauma, body-mind connection and group energy, and skillfully merge a spiritual approach with the newest science in neuroscience, quantum energetics and epigenetics.

And some are just classics I keep going back to (Maya Angelou!)

Each of these books supported me in creating tiny but powerful inner shifts to consciously create the changes in my life I wanted to see. I hope they will do the same for you.

Enjoy!

1 — The Energy of Money by Maria Nemeth

Whether you are constantly finding yourself coming up short, are afraid to spend what you have, or feel like you are working yourself to the bone to make enough of it, money can be a topic that weighs you down. The Energy of Money is one of the most powerful books when it comes to healing your relationship with money and guides you to uncover your unconscious beliefs and behaviors related to money. This is about moving from scarcity to embodying abundance — so money can support you in becoming the best version of yourself, live your purpose and create a more fulfilling life where all around you benefit.

Nemeth emphasizes that money is not just a currency but also a reflection of your energy, values, and desires. Money amplifies what’s already there. By shifting your perspective and developing a healthier relationship with money, this book helps you harness the energy of money to create a more fulfilling and abundant life and improve your financial health.

"Money, like a loyal companion, is eager and ready to come with you on your journey. But if you don't believe you deserve money, or you don't trust it, or you think it's bad, or you don't feel worthy of it, it will politely stay away from you."

2 — It’s Not Always Depression by Hilary Jacobs Hendel

This is the most to-the-point book I found about Emotions and how to work with them so they don’t work against you. In It’s Not Always Depression, Hilary challenges conventional notions about depression and that it’s often not depression, but an inability to feel, understand and release our emotions — simply because we’ve never been taught this. I loved the concept of the Change Triangle, a simple tool to understand, process, and manage your emotions with clarity and self-love. You’ll learn how to identify and work through core emotions and inhibitory emotions like shame and guilt, with the intention to liberate and embody your authentic Self. You’ll learn a simple compass to allow your emotions to flow so they don’t blow up later. Because Emotions in itself aren’t harmful (for yourself or others) but acting on the impulse of an emotion can be.

"Within our emotions lies the power to heal and transform our lives."

3 — The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté

Dr. Maté, a renowned physician and trauma and addiction expert, sheds light on how our relentless (and often subconscious) pursuit of 'normalcy' unwittingly sabotages our well-being. He illuminates the hidden realm of trauma and body knowledge, shedding light on the connection between suppressed emotions and physical ailments in such a powerful way. This book offers insights into your own emotional landscape and equips you with practical tools to navigate life's twists and turns. I also feel it’s a powerful testament to our resiliency, reminding us that healing is not only possible but within your grasp.

In a world that often seeks to homogenize, this book empowers us to celebrate our authenticity — which is where true joy, health and wellbeing comes from.

"Normal is an illusion. What's truly extraordinary lies in our differences."

4 — Waking The Tiger by Peter Levine

Waking the Tiger is an immensely powerful exploration of trauma and its profound effects on the human body and mind. This book unveils a groundbreaking approach to healing that taps into the body's innate capacity to release and resolve traumatic experiences. It guides you through a transformative process of understanding and healing past wounds, shedding light on the innate resilience within us all.

"Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence. It can be an opportunity for growth and change."

5 — No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz

One of the most insightful books that delves into the world of Internal Family Systems (IFS). Schwartz introduces you to the concept of your inner Self as composed of various parts, each with its own unique voice, fears and purpose. Through practical exercises the book offers a path to understanding and healing the complex tapestry of our inner world, fostering self-compassion and empowering yourself to be all that you are.

To me this book reminded me that ALL my inner parts, including my shadows, are on the same team — even when some try to have me feel and act in ways that feel misaligned yet still ‘protect’ me from potential harm. Understanding these parts has helped me to shift these (subconscious) patterns so I am more able to thrive, instead of just survive.

"Your inner world is a vast, unexplored landscape. Embrace every part of it, for within your 'parts' lies the key to your true self."

6 — The Power Of Eight by Lynne McTaggart

The Power Of Eight by Lynne McTaggart is a profoundly powerful book that delves into the transformative potential of collective intention and interconnectedness. Drawing upon scientific research and captivating stories, McTaggart explores the extraordinary power of group consciousness and the remarkable impact of unified intentions on healing, transformation, and positive change. With her captivating narrative, she unveils the hidden forces that bind us together and offers a compelling argument for the strength that emerges when people come together with a shared purpose.

"The circle has healing power. In the circle, we are all equal. When in the circle, no one is in front of you. No one is behind you. No one is above you. No one is below you. The circle is sacred because it is designed to create unity."

7 — The Biology Of Belief by Bruce Lipton

This book helped me move in from years of brain fog and fatigue. Biology of Belief challenges conventional thinking about the relationship between our beliefs and our biology that modern medicine hasn’t fully picked up yet. Bruce Lipton draws on scientific research to demonstrate how our thoughts and beliefs profoundly influence our health and well-being. Our beliefs can activate or inhibit our genes through epigenetics, leading to a completely new understanding of the mind-body connection. This book is all about taking control of your own health and potential for personal transformation and freedom.

"Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, and your values become your destiny."

8 — The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks

Gay Hendricks will guide you to uncover the limiting beliefs and fears that hold you back from realizing your full potential. Hendricks introduces the concept of the 'upper limit problem,' where individuals unconsciously sabotage their own success when they reach a certain level of happiness or achievement. Through engaging stories and practical advice, the book empowers you to break free from these self-imposed limitations and take the big leap toward abundance and fulfillment — in every area of your life.

"Each of us has an inner thermostat setting that determines how much love, success, and creativity we allow ourselves to enjoy. When we exceed our inner thermostat setting, we will often do something to sabotage ourselves, causing us to drop back into the old, familiar zone where we feel secure."

9 — Untamed By Glendon Doyle

Oof. Untamed. I was so captivated by it that I actually launched a book club just to explore it chapter by chapter with friends. This book is a rallying cry for authenticity and self-discovery. It's like having a heart-to-heart conversation with your most honest self. Glennon Doyle fearlessly navigates the tumultuous waters of womanhood, motherhood, relationships, and identity, urging you to break free from the chains of societal expectations and to become untamed. It's an invitation to shed the confines of conformity and embrace, embody and express your true nature.

One story that really struck me at the time was when Doyle reflects on her journey to stand up for her own truth, even when it meant challenging traditional norms and expectations. Her courage to be authentic despite societal pressures was exactly what I needed.

"We stop abandoning ourselves and begin abandoning the world's expectations of us."

10 — Letter to My Daughter By Maya Angelou

The book that perhaps inspires me the most, is Letter to My Daughter. It’s one of the few books I read multiple times as it touches so many aspects of our life and human experience — every time I pick up something new, and exactly what I need. It’s a collection of personal essays and reflections where Maya Angelou shares her guidance to the “daughter” she never had but envisions in every reader (she had one son). It feels like an intimate collection of wisdom from her heart. Timeless and universal guidance that transcends generations. This book will shift your perspective on how to live well and with courage, find meaning in life, and navigate its challenges through stories you’ll never forget.

"You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."
